The remodelling of the orchards continues

Fewer apple and peach trees but more walnut trees
Orchard acreage diminished by 8% between 1997 and 2002. Apple orchards remain the largest, covering 53 000 hectares. Walnut orchards are now the fourth largest in terms of acreage. Irrigation is the rule in the big orchards.
