The composition of farm families, like that of all French families, has evolved over time : more people living alone, and fewer children per family.
The composition of farm families, like that of all French families, has evolved over time : more people living alone, and fewer children per family. However certain characteristics continue to set farm families apart. For example, the separation of different generations living under the same roof has been slower than among other groups. Nuclear families, comprised of parents and unmarried children, thus relatively young people, live on the largest farms.
