The development of quality practices in the fruit sector
Agreste cahiers n° 2 - mars 2004
The introduction of official quality labels in the fruit sector continued between 1997 and 2002.
The introduction of official quality labels in the fruit sector continued between 1997 and 2002. However, there was only a modest extension of those labels with stricter quality requirements, such as Label Rouge, AOC and Bio (organic). Only the CCP (Product Conformity Certificate) label, which combines flexible usage with moderate quality requirements, expanded significantly. This label is a signal mainly for professionals in the sector, and not for consumers. It affords producers an easier access to markets, especially through supermarket chains, which favour producer organisations holding a CCP when determining specifications and the supply of branded fruit.
