Over one quarter of the fresh vegetable producers sell their vegetables mainly through a short channel : direct sale to consumers and distributors or supply to a wholesale market.
Over one quarter of the fresh vegetable producers sell their vegetables mainly through a short channel : direct sale to consumers and distributors or supply to a wholesale market. They run smaller farms than the farms which use other channels.
Half the vegetable producers who work with distribution only deliver to it part of their production, while the supply on wholesale market and the sale to consumers generally allow to sell all of the farm’s vegetables. Small family farms, selling directly to consumers, produce a wide range of vegetables if in limited quantity.
