Farm closures accelerate but no excessive incorporation
Agreste cahiers n° 3 - juillet 2003
The last ten years have been marked by an acceleration in farm closure.
The last ten years have been marked by an acceleration in farm closure. The vacant land has mostly been taken over by the already existing concerns which have increased their size without concentrating the economic potential into the hands of the largest. The smallest concerns are either those that show substantial growth thanks to a movement of « catching up » (essentially linked to the life cycle) or those that are tending to close down. The concerns structured as a company are also part of this growth pattern with a longer life cycle and a higher rate of growth.
