Agreste cahiers Spécial Structure n° 4 - décembre 2006
In 2005, there are 679,000 family members working on professional farms.
In 2005, there are 679,000 family members working on professional farms.
Two-thirds of these family workers are farmers, most often employed full time on the farm. Their main activity is the farm, but around 10% also work outside of agriculture, and this proportion is growing.
Although half of the farmers’spouses have no work at all on the farm, women come in second place among family workers with 20% of the total, mainly working part time. As for the other family workers, children or parents of farmers, their numbers are steadily aging and declining.
